Kris Russell isn’t exactly known for his checking. Listed at 5’10” and 170 pounds, the Edmonton defenseman made plenty of noise with his surprising hit on Chicago’s Tyler Motte. As Motte tried to control the puck, he made the mistake of having his head down and was caught completely by surprise by a thunderous hit from Russell.

Fans who love to watch hockey players fight are starting to get a little spoiled this season. While the quantity of fights continue to dwindle, the quality is apparently on the rise as yet again this week’s roundup is loaded with awesome bouts.
