Kris Russell isn’t exactly known for his checking. Listed at 5’10” and 170 pounds, the Edmonton defenseman made plenty of noise with his surprising hit on Chicago’s Tyler Motte.
As Motte tried to control the puck, he made the mistake of having his head down and was caught completely by surprise by a thunderous hit from Russell.
This was easily one of the best – and most surprising – hits in the NHL this season.
