Video: Lightning turn Amalie Arena into a giant arcade

It’s imperative that hockey provides some distraction to nervous fans during the intermissions to keep them from going crazy, especially during the Conference Final. The Lightning came up with the distraction of all distractions during Game 3 of the ECF against Pittsburgh, as they projected a Mario Kart game on to the ice between periods […]

Video: Ben Bishop carried off on stretcher after twisting knee awkwardly

There have been a rash of goalie injuries in this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs, and it hasn’t stopped in the Conference Final. Ben Bishop went down awkwardly after a stray stick hit him in the back of the leg, and after writhing in pain, he had to be carried off on a stretcher.

Mike Francesa calls Islanders organization “A Bunch Of Clowns”

In his endless quest to make good radio in New York, WFAN personality Mike “Sports Pope” Francesa unloaded on the Islanders for not selling out Game 3 at Barclays Center against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Francesa called out the behind the scenes players in Brooklyn, and didn’t hold back: “They don’t know how to market, […]

Video: Mike Fisher scores triple overtime game winner

You might know him as Carrie Underwood’s husband. And that’s fine. But he’s Mike Fisher. And he gave new life to the Nashville Predators with an important and memorable triple overtime goal to lift the Preds to victory, and tie the series at 2-2.

Video: Black cat runs on ice, crosses Sharks bench before Game 1

There was a famous moment in the 1969 baseball season where a black cat ran on the field at Shea Stadium and crossed the Cubs dugout. Baseball players and fans, being the superstitious creatures they are, believed that the Cubs were cursed by the cat as they lost the division to the New York Mets […]

Ducks lose Game 7; Is this it for Bruce Boudreau?

On December 17th, 2015 the Anaheim Ducks had 27 points. They were tied for dead last in the league, and three points behind the Edmonton Oilers. In a league that pretty much has its playoff teams settled by Thanksgiving, that’s an impossible hole to climb out of. But Bruce Boudreau and the Ducks did it, […]

Video: Patrick Kane’s great individual effort keeps the Blackhawks alive

It’s really hard to eliminate a champion … much less a team that has won three Cups in six seasons. So the Blues knew that this wasn’t just any other Game 5 at home up 3-1. And when the Blues and the Blackhawks went to double overtime, Patrick Kane showed why it’s hard to eliminate […]

Sean Avery continues to find interesting things to do to follow up an interesting NHL career. On his instagram page, Avery posted a photo of him in a policeman’s uniform, which is his costume for a movie role about the Boston Marathon bombing from three years ago. #Ironic A photo posted by Sean Avery (@imseanavery) […]

Video: Caps and Flyers fight after Dmitry Orlov boarded

The Flyers were already out of Game 3 against the Capitals on Monday, and they’re probably on their way out of the playoffs. But not before one more bit of message sending by the Flyers as Pierre-Edouard Bellemare hit Dmitry Orlov from behind and into the boards.

Video: Lightning and Red Wings end another playoff game with a brawl

I might be stating the obvious here, but I don’t think the Lightning and Red Wings like each other very much. The two teams ended Game 2 with major hostilities, and as the final horn sounded on the Wings’ 2-0 Game 3 win in Detroit on Sunday night, the teams commenced with more message sending […]

Video: Antoine Roussel scores from behind the net off his skate

It’s not as if the Minnesota Wild don’t have enough problems: Down 0-1 to the top seeded Dallas Stars while missing key players. Now they have to deal with goals scored from behind the net off of their goalie’s head on a puck that was kicked, yet not with a “distinct kicking motion”. It was […]

Video: Steve Mason gives up the most awful of awful goals

If you want to be generous to Flyers goalie Steve Mason, you could say that he gave up a bad center ice goal in Game 2 against the Washington Capitals on Saturday. While technically true, the goal really came from the opposite goal line and was only deflected slightly at center ice. It was a […]
