It’s really hard to eliminate a champion … much less a team that has won three Cups in six seasons. So the Blues knew that this wasn’t just any other Game 5 at home up 3-1. And when the Blues and the Blackhawks went to double overtime, Patrick Kane showed why it’s hard to eliminate a champion as he scored the double overtime game winner on an unbelievable individual effort:
For Kane, it’s his fifth career overtime game winner in the playoffs. For the Blackhawks, they head to Chicago for Game 6 on Saturday instead of heading to the golf course. For the Blues, they have to be proud of themselves for getting this game to overtime after being down 3-1. But for a team with a recent history of first round heartbreak, you hope that this isn’t a seed that grows up to be a full grown tree. They had a chance to eliminate the champs at home with one goal and didn’t do it. Let’s see if they regret it.
