Nashville Predators say goodbye to Barry Trotz with billboard

It’s not shocking that Barry Trotz was relieved of his coaching duties today (and offered a spot in the Predators organization). The Preds have missed the playoffs the past two seasons, and it appears Trotz has squeezed all of the water from the stone that is the Nashville offense. It’s time for some new blood. […]

8 reasons why the Western Conference won’t win the Stanley Cup

The Western Conference has been labeled the more difficult of the two conferences in 2013-14. That point is certainly debatable, but several of the league’s top teams call the Western Conference home. Will this regular season success translate into a Stanley Cup for one of these Western teams? We’re not so sure. Here are eight […]

Dustin Byfuglien will start as a forward in 2014-15

Dustin Byfuglien has been used a forward and a defenseman throughout the 2013-14 season. In January, the Jets moved Big Buff up front while still using him on the point with the man advantage. His primary role shifted to forward during 5-on-5 play after serving as a defenseman for a little over three years. Where […]

Gostisbehere golden in Union’s national title win

In what was as perfect an advertisement for college hockey as you could imagine, Union College — a small, liberal arts school in Schenectady, New York — defeated the mighty University of Minnesota 7-4 in the NCAA title game at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Often championship games take a turn toward the more […]

On Saturday night, the Adirondack Phantoms (affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers) were scheduled to take on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (affiliate of the New York Islanders) at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport. However, the game was canceled due to unsafe ice conditions. Why was the ice unsafe for play? Great question.

Jake McCabe hit on Daniel Paille stuns Bruins winger

Report: Most Oilers skipped Ryan Smyth’s retirement announcement

Teams stick together. Apparently no one told that to the Edmonton Oilers. During Ryan Smyth’s emotional retirement announcement, only a few Oilers actually attended. The rest of the team was mysteriously missing. It’s nice to see some of the talented youngsters were in attendance, but where was everyone else? Why wouldn’t you support your teammate? […]

The Anaheim Ducks are trying to paint their city orange just in time for the playoffs. The team is giving away 30,000 orange “Let’s Go Ducks!” shirts to students in the OC. Who doesn’t love a free shirt? This is a great way to get a city excited for the playoffs and perhaps an even […]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLGyqitqxgk Pavel Datsyuk isn’t exactly known for his physical play. That’s a huge, huge understatement. However, during his team’s important game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Datsyuk delivered a crunching blow on Sidney Crosby. The hit was as awesome as it was unexpected.

Claude Giroux and the case for the Hart Trophy runners-up

Yesterday afternoon, a question was posed to the Puck Drunk Love staff.
