Dustin Byfuglien has been used a forward and a defenseman throughout the 2013-14 season. In January, the Jets moved Big Buff up front while still using him on the point with the man advantage. His primary role shifted to forward during 5-on-5 play after serving as a defenseman for a little over three years.
Where will Byfuglien play in 2014-15? It looks like the Jets have already made up their mind.
#NHLJets HC Paul Maurice says Dustin Byfuglien will start next season as a forward

The plan – for now – is to play Byfuglien at forward to start 2014-15. That plan could easily change depending on any transactions made over the summer or potential injuries, but it’s clear the Jets at least hope to use him in a more offensive role. For Byfuglien, it must be nice to at least have an idea of what he needs to prepare for heading into the new season.
