UPDATE: 3/29 – The streak is over. O’Reilly picked up his first penalty of the season on Saturday afternoon. He was given two minutes for playing with a broken stick. The penalty box is practically a second home for some NHL players. For Ryan O’Reilly, it’s an area of the arena he isn’t very familiar […]

Martin Broduer may wait one more year before he hangs up his skates. The 41-year-old goaltender has stated that he thinks he will play in 2014-15, extending his NHL career to an incredible 22 years. In an interview seen on NHL.com, Brodeur answered rather bluntly about his future in the league. When asked if he’ll return, […]

Hockey fans finally have a cookie which celebrates their love of the great sport of hockey. Oreo is pushing out special Stanley Cup Oreos in honor of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Unfortunately, they’re only available in Canada. Wait, you mean the cookie in that picture isn’t to scale? Here we all thought we’d be getting […]

NHL officials have always been under the microscope. However, things seem to have gotten worse over the last several seasons as blown calls continue to pile up and teams are being wrongly defeated on a more regular basis. What has the league done about their shoddy officiating? Not much, but that may be about to […]

Goaltender Anthony Stolarz of the OHL’s London Knights has a bit of a temper. After receiving a slash from Josh Ho-Sang of the Windsor Spitfire (you’ve got to love OHL team names), Stolarz used his paddle to chop at the back of Ho-Sang’s head. Remarkably, Stolarz received just a two-minute penalty on the play and […]

That’s a brutal collision. Amazingly, Wheeler later returned to the game. These types of collisions are some of the scariest in the sport. The NHL curved the glass near the benches in order to soften hits around that area of the ice, but now they may need to address the issue of doors being left open during play to avoid a serious injury.

The end of the regular season is near. As we prepare to look back and reflect on all of the fights which took place this year, we watch as teams battle for their playoff lives and others battle simply to stay somewhat relevant as they drift along in the basement of the NHL. This means […]

The Buffalo Sabres have been pretty bad this season. That’s not exactly news, but it may come as a surprise to hockey fans who haven’t been following the team too closely is that the club is on the verge of being historically bad this season. Specifically, the team’s offense may go down as one of […]

Rich Nash’s return to Columbus was an interesting one. He received a loud ovation and the Blue Jackets played a nice video tribute. From there, things took a nasty turn as Nash shoved goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and then dropped the gloves with Matt Calvert. As expected, Nash’s return to Columbus was met with mixed reactions […]

The playoffs are going to be a very important time for Mike Richards. Aside from the obvious opportunity to win the Cup, it’s looking like Richards’ future with the Los Angeles Kings may be directly linked with how well he performs in the playoffs. Richards is currently in the sixth year of a massive 12-year, […]

Sunday, March 23rd will mark the end of an era. The end of an ugly, ugly era. The New York Islanders will be wearing their black third jerseys for the final time when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday afternoon. No real surprise here. As the Islanders prepare to move to Brooklyn, they’re […]

Fans invading sporting events by running through the playing area is a pretty common occurrence. Some baseball games now feature several stoppages as a parade of idiots tries to frolic through the outfield while evading security. Hockey doesn’t suffer from that sort of behavior thanks to the tall boards and glass which serve as a […]

Tampa Bay’s Alex Killorn delivered a nasty hit on Toronto’s Paul Ranger on Wednesday night. As Ranger made a quick turn near the boards, Killorn drove through him, sending his head awkwardly into the glass. Ranger was down on the ice for several minutes before being stretchered off.
