Martin Broduer may wait one more year before he hangs up his skates. The 41-year-old goaltender has stated that he thinks he will play in 2014-15, extending his NHL career to an incredible 22 years. In an interview seen on NHL.com, Brodeur answered rather bluntly about his future in the league. When asked if he’ll return, Brodeur simply said, “I think so.”
However, nothing is guaranteed. Brodeur mentioned he’ll take time over the summer before making any sort of final decision.
Most players who retire usually do so to spend more time with their family. In Brodeur’s case, he may see his children more if he continues to play in the NHL. Brodeur’s twins are currently in school in Minnesota while his other son skates in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League near Ottawa. Brodeur extending his NHL career may allow him to spend more time with his children, especially if he signs a deal with either the Senators or Wild.
