Report: Notre Dame may host a future outdoor NHL game

Like it or not, the NHL Stadium Series and the Winter Classic are here to stay. Rumors have suggested that Busch Stadium in St. Louis may serve as host for the 2017 Winter Classic, but beyond that there haven’t been too many discussions as far as other venues either for the Classic or for future […]

Video: Fake snow delays outdoor Avs and Red Wings game

Okay look, not every Winter Classic or Stadium Series game is going to have the postcard backdrop of light snowfall that makes you think of backyard rinks in Canada. So, when the forecast called for upper 50’s in Denver for the Red Wings/Avalanche game at Coors Field, the snow had to be … “created”. And […]

Video: Dan Girardi gets puck stuck in visor and looks like a pirate

The beautiful thing about sports is that you can watch hundreds of thousands of games, and still see something you’ve never seen before. You’ve probably never seen a player get a puck stuck in his visor before as Dan Girardi did today against Dallas on a scrum in the corner on Saturday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dG0UiJYZopA Play the […]

Video: Vernon Fiddler wipes tears away after making child’s day

The sports world is a special place. Too often the attention is focused on the glamorous side of things, including the lavish lifestyles many athletes are able to afford. There’s also the philanthropic side which is something NHL skaters seem to excel at. Vernon Fiddler isn’t an exception to the rule and was able to make […]

Shayne Gostisbehere deserves more recognition for his great year

When coming into the National Hockey League, players obviously set high expectations for themselves. Despite the desire to make an immediate impact, many players fall into the lull of safe and comfortable play. Players tend to make more conservative plays and try to avoid any kind of risk, fearing demotion. What happens when a player who […]

Trading David Backes would be an “injustice” to Blues players

The St. Louis Blues are one of the teams expected to be buyers at the trade deadline. Thanks to injuries across the roster plaguing some of the club’s best players, the Blues might be in a difficult position when it comes to improving their lineup. Rumors have swirled, but so far no deals have been […]

Blackhawks trade Rob Scuderi to Kings for Christian Ehrhoff

Not all pre-deadline trades are created equally. This trade is definitely no different. Today it was reported by Bob McKenzie that the Blackhawks and Kings are trading Rob Scuderi and Christian Ehrhoff in a classic one-for-one trade. Ehrhoff, age 33, has bounced around recently as he has taken short-term deals over possible lucrative long-term deals to chase […]

The Hurricanes are in a pickle ahead of the trade deadline

As the trade deadline approaches, several NHL teams have an important decision to make on whether to buy, sell or stand pat. I say several because for many that decision is easy. Teams like Chicago will surely buy while teams like Toronto and Buffalo will likely sell. But, because of the loser point and general parity, […]

Flyers goalie Michal Neuvirth made an incredible save by anybody’s standards. Now add in the fact that he made this save with a one-goal lead with under two seconds left in the game. Also add in the fact that the Flyers are chasing a playoff spot and this is pretty much a must win, along […]
