Penguins are obliterating opponents in December, putting NHL on notice

Christmas has come early for the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins haven’t just beaten opposing NHL teams in December, they’ve taken a barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat and bludgeoned them to death. It’s not fair to say the Penguins are simply dominating because they’re straight up murdering opponents. It’s merciless. In six games this month, Pittsburgh has […]

Tortorella’s decision to ban morning skates is because “common sense dictates”

The morning skate is a polarizing topic in the NHL. Almost every team in the league participates in a practice the morning before a game, but the Columbus Blue Jackets are one squad which abandoned the traditional format back in November. With the Blue Jackets streaking, Tortorella is reiterating his decision to abandon the morning […]

In the span of seconds, the Canadiens and Bruins delivered massive, player-dropping hits

The Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins have a longstanding rivalry. The division rivals simply don’t like each other, and never have. Video: Alexei Emelin flips Joe Colborne with a hip check

Hip checks have fallen out of favor in the modern NHL, but Alexei Emelin is doing his part to bring them back. In a lopsided game between the Colorado Avalanche and the Montreal Canadiens, Emelin continued to play hard despite the 10-1 score, flipping Joe Colborne with a well-timed hip check. The Avalanche weren’t too happy.

Video: Kari Lehtonen makes an amazing glove save against the Flyers

Kari Lehtonen’s play has been fairly mediocre in 2016-17, compiling a decent win/loss record with fairly pedestrian GAA and save percentage numbers. That being said, Lehtonen may have just claimed the best save of the season with his glove robbery on Philadelphia’s Ivan Provorov. The Flyers set up a great play, luring Lehtonen out of his […]

NHL star Auston Matthews wore a Harambe Christmas sweater

Harambe continues to live on in the sporting world and is now popping up on ugly Christmas sweaters. At 19, Auston Matthews might already be one of the most talented forwards in the NHL. He scored four goals in his debut and has since proved to be a consistent source of offense for the Toronto Maple […]

This Week in NHL Stupid: Silent Knights

Welcome to another edition of “This Week in NHL Stupid”, where we track the silly, the ugly, and the stupid in the world of hockey. And while the week started out slow, eventually the stupid oozed out of the pores of the NHL this week. Let’s start with a team who hasn’t played a game […]

Capitals owner supports Alex Ovechkin’s desire to play in the Olympics

The NHL hasn’t decided whether or not they will allow players to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, but it has already been reported that there is a “strong negative sentiment” from the league’s owners. That negative view may represent the majority, but it doesn’t reflect the views of Washington Capitals owners […]
