Video: Steve Ott does the splits into the boards

Steve Ott may hold the new record for most awkward tumble into the boards. His skates got caught up with Dion Phaneuf and he went crashing into the boards … while doing the splits. This will make you cringe. Ott was forced to leave the game with a lower-body injury.

USA Hockey contradicts itself by selecting Buffalo for World Junior Championship

USA Hockey is talking out of both sides of its mouth. Buffalo was recently named the host of the 2018 World Junior Championship. Along with this announcement came the news that Ralph Wilson Stadium, home of the Buffalo Bills, would host an outdoor game between the U.S. and Canada. Buffalo is an outstanding choice for the World […]

QMJHL player accidentally runs himself over with his own car prior to game

Here’s a crazy story out of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Acadie-Bathurst Titan defenseman Nicolas Dumulong parked his car at K.C. Irving Regional Centre prior to his team’s game against the Saint John Sea Dogs. Shortly after exiting his vehicle and beginning to walk away, he noticed the car was moving. Dumulong tried to stop the car which […]

Video: Jagr high-sticks Weber, promptly apologizes

Referees are the bane of any athlete’s existence. They are only there to catch you during your sneakiest and most conniving moments. Recently with how fast the game has progressed, refs miss an awful lot of plays so it is up to the players to police themselves. Such is the case with Jaromir Jagr. Jagr […]

Video: Jordin Tootoo knocks out Brad Malone

Often times when a team is trailing by a large margin, players think it will motivate the team if they take a fist in the mouth for the sake of everyone. Brad Malone decided to nominate himself as tribute tonight and the results were anything but pretty. You have to appreciate the ref’s hug that is […]

Video: Erik Johnson takes skate to face courtesy of Rick Nash

We saw the other night in the KHL that sometimes a skate gets up high on a player and it can produce some very scary moments. When I wrote that I didn’t expect that so shortly after the fact a scary moment would produce itself in the same week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnQ-ArJ7yAY&feature=youtu.be I don’t know what the hell […]

Alex Ovechkin approves of fans voting for John Scott

As hockey fans continue to have fun with the NHL All-Star Game voting system by voting repeatedly for John Scott and other random players, media outlets and players have voiced their opinion against these selections making the competition. Even though the game isn’t supposed to be taken too seriously, some have criticized fans for voting for […]

Report: Broward County to vote on future of Panthers arena

When you aren’t from a traditional hockey market even from the beginning, the cards are stacked against you. Not only from your own city but from outsiders as well. If you are a hockey club in the sunbelt of the United States, people openly wonder why you have a team and why in God’s name […]

What’s wrong with the not-so-mighty Ducks?

Going into the season, the Anaheim Ducks were among the favorites to take home the Stanley Cup. They were certainly favored to win the Pacific Division for the fourth season in a row and generally expected to make a deep playoff run. Yet, here we sit nearly one-third of the way through the 2015-16 season, […]

Video: High elbow from Gryba leads to a lot of awkwardness

When it comes to losing, no one knows more about it in within the past decade than the Edmonton Oilers. Most of their memorable moments have taken place at the Draft rather than on the ice, so it should come as no surprise that once again the Oilers are in the spotlight for all the […]

Today it was announced that Buffalo was selected over the likes of Pittsburgh and St. Louis to host the World Junior Hockey Championships in 2018. The announcement doesn’t come as a surprise to many around the league as owner Terry Pegula has done a lot for the area surrounding the First Niagara Center to make […]

Oddsmaker: Larkin wins Rookie of the Month, but where does he stand for the Calder Trophy?

Recently it was announced that Dylan Larkin was November’s Rookie of the Month which was quite an accomplishment for the former Michigan Wolverine. He had seven goals alone in the month of November which led all rookies. Larkin has been everything the Red Wings have needed and because of that they have had an opportunity to […]

Video: Doc Emrick may have the world’s creepiest laugh

As far as Doc Emrick goes, he is kind of like everyone’s grandfather. Old, charming and a little bit kooky. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Emrick may have one of the weirdest laughs in the entire world. I had to listen to this in upwards of 50 times to make sure that it […]
