Cam Talbot thinks the Oilers are close to making the playoffs

Goaltender Cam Talbot is pretty confident in the Edmonton Oilers. “I don’t think we’re that far off from making the playoffs, to be honest with you,” Talbot told Sportsnet.ca. “I think one more piece [on defense] and we’ve got all the talent up front we’ve always had and added more talent via free agency and […]

Lake Erie Warriors debut new racist logo

Starting a new hockey team from scratch has to be an exciting experience. Putting together a front office, assembling a team of players and also picking the team name. The Lake Erie Warriors, a team that is going to start this year in the National College Prospects Hockey League, a tier-two junior league, is off […]

Is Brad Marchand worth the money he’s reportedly asking for?

After Steven Stamkos decided against taking his talents to the open market, it put a real damper on the offseason. Most hockey fans were hoping that Stamkos would try and leverage other teams to have them all fight for his services. This next offseason we may see a similar arms race for a less impactful player. NHL will live stream one game each week on Twitter

Ever since Twitter debuted, live-tweeting sporting events has become a time-honored tradition. Going on Twitter and getting your news immediately is a luxury many enjoy. It would make sense that the next step would be live streaming since Twitter has already dabbled in those fields with the purchase of Periscope and should only want to expand […]

The NHL fired the arbitrator who handled the Dennis Wideman dispute

As some of you may remember, Dennis Wideman hit a referee this past season and it sparked a million think pieces about whether or not what happened was the right thing. He was initially suspended for 20 games, but after multiple appeals the sentence was reduced to 10 games. It apparently wasn’t to commissioner Gary Bettman’s liking […]

Who won the Zibanejad-Brassard trade?

Save for a random minor hockey trade, the hockey news tends to slow down a fair bit over the summer. Hockey fans rejoiced as Derick Brassard of the New York Rangers and a 2018 seventh-round pick were traded to the Senators for Mika Zibanejad and a 2018 second-round pick. As far as mid-July trades go, this […]

Video: P.K. Subban sings Johnny Cash at a Nashville bar

When a personality like P.K. Subban is apart of your league, it is something you have to cherish. He is compelling and bold in a league filled with mostly boring and bland players. When you inject him into a city like Nashville, you are bound to get some pretty good results.

The NHL should copy the NBA’s Summer League

Each summer NHL insiders gleefully leave to go to their cottages. The lack of NHL news means that there is no demand for their services. It is a boring time for hardcore hockey fans and leaves a bunch wanting more. Outside of some highlights from development camps, there isn’t much to discuss. Meanwhile the NBA, […]

The one constant through it all has been their current captain, Shane Doan. Originally with the Winnipeg Jets before they moved to […]

Wayne Gretzky convinced Milan Lucic to join the Oilers

Senators disappointed in former first-round pick’s development camp

Development camp can be a make or break time for some young prospects. Generally if you are a first-round pick you shouldn’t have too much to worry about. If you are Thomas Chabot, the Senators 2015 first-round pick, you apparently have plenty to worry about.
