Kris Russell isn’t exactly known for his checking. Listed at 5’10” and 170 pounds, the Edmonton defenseman made plenty of noise with his surprising hit on Chicago’s Tyler Motte. As Motte tried to control the puck, he made the mistake of having his head down and was caught completely by surprise by a thunderous hit from Russell.

It’s not too often you see an own-goal when the guilty team has their goalie between the pipes. The Boston Bruins committed that very blunder when they hosted the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday. Straight off of a draw, the Bruins pulled the puck back and accidentally slid it into their own net.

Raffi Torres had a professional tryout with the Carolina Hurricanes prior to the 2016-17 season, but upon being released from that tryout, the 35-year-old has decided to retire from the NHL.
