Two Pittsburgh Penguins road games are most expensive NHL games this month

The NHL playoff race is in full swing right now with teams jockeying for position and making their post-All Star game move up (or down) the standings. While home ice advantage seems great on paper, the LA Kings in particular have shown that just getting in the tournament gives you an opportunity to propel yourself towards a Stanley Cup championship, so teams outside of the playoff picture will be hustling to make the final eight.

This month’s most expensive games feature a few things in particular, big hockey cities and amazing playoff races. Check out the top four games for the month of February, with ticket pricing data provided by Razorgator.com:

02/07/2015 Vancouver Canucks vs. Pittsburgh Penguins | Average Ticket Price: $390.13 | Get-In Price: $126

The Vancouver Canucks are one of the biggest surprises in the NHL this season. After a terrible season under head coach John Tortorella last season, they are under the tutelage of Willie Desjardins this season. He has them in fourth place in the ultra-competitive Pacific Division. The Pittsburgh Penguins have survived the season despite losing many man-games due to injury. They have ridden the amazing play of Sidney Crosby and Marc-Andre Fleury to a 28-14-8 record as of Tuesday. This game should be a barnburner. They are both holding onto their spot for dear life. Pens fans realize that, and they plan on paying top dollar to see it happen. Tickets for the Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Canucks for this game is an eye-popping $390.13. Just to get in to the door of Rogers Arena, it is going to go for at least $126.

02/06/2015 Calgary Flames vs. Pittsburgh Penguins | Average Price: $396.50 | Get-In Price $138

The Calgary Flames are another team that surprised the world this season. They were not supposed to be good at all, but they find themselves ahead of the defending champion Los Angeles Kings and in second place of the Pacific Division. They are riding high on the back of Norris Trophy candidate Mark Giordano. He has been beyond great all season long. The Penguins are one of, if not the highest priced tickets in the NHL in America, even as a visiting team. This shows with the two highest ticket prices coming away games in different arenas. The average price for this game is an amazing $396.50.. The get-in price for this is $138.

02/13/2015 Vancouver Canucks vs. Boston Bruins | Average Price: $367.46 | Get-In Price $116

The Vancouver Canucks make their second appearance on this list, both times at home. This time, they are playing the surging Boston Bruins. They are 8-2-1 in the past 11 games, propelling themselves back into the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Bruins have been on a roll as of late and will be bringing that momentum into Rogers Arena. The average Boston Bruins tickets for this game is a startling $367.46 and you can get away with getting into the door for $116.

2/28/2015 Montreal Canadiens vs. Toronto Maple Leafs | Average Price: 347.38 | Get-In Price: $128

The Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs have been fighting for Canadian supremacy for almost a century. It seems like it hasn’t been much of a fight. The Canadiens once again are excelling while the Maple Leafs are floundering. Since firing their coach Randy Carlyle, the Leafs have been in a free fall down the division standings. They were once thought as a dark horse in the division, now they are thought of as a candidate for Connor McDavid, the top prospect in the 2015 NHL Draft. This isn’t stopping fans from spending big bucks to come to see them play. This Canadian showdown is bringing in an average price of $371.30 per ticket. Just to get into the door, it is going to cost fans at least $124 per ticket.
