Avalanche tickets averaging under $100 in December

If the Colorado Avalanche are hoping to make a playoff push for the second consecutive season come April, they’ll need to step on the gas soon. The team has struggled over the first two months of the season, posting an anemic 9-11-6 record and owning the sixth spot in the Central Division. In the midst of a two-game skid after falling to the Canadiens and Flames this week, the Avalanche will host six more games in the month of December, with top-priced games coming against the Blackhawks and Flyers.

The season average for Avalanche tickets at home is $99.76 on the secondary market. December’s average falls just below this number at $97.38 over the team’s next six home games. The Blackhawks travel to the Pepsi Center on December 27, bringing with them an average secondary price of $174.54 for Avalanche vs Blackhawks tickets, which is 74.9% above season average. Get-in price for the game starts at $37. The Flyers come to Denver just four days later, where the average price for Avalanche vs Flyers tickets is $110.74 and get-in price starts at $20.

The Avalanche will also welcome the Predators, Jets and Blues to the Pepsi Center this month, though tickets to all four games will see ticket prices fall below season average. The team will play its cheapest home game in December against the Predators next Wednesday. The average price for Avalanche vs Predators tickets is just $48 on the secondary market, 51.8% below season average, and get-in price is listed at just $7.

Plenty of hockey is still left to play this season, but the Avalanche will need to make a move soon if they hope to stay relevant moving forward. They hold a one-point lead over the basement-dwelling Stars in the Central Division, who sit at 9-12-5 on the season. December will be a huge month for the team as they look to climb the standings, and ticket prices over their next six home games give further validation that pivotal games against playoff-caliber teams are must-wins over the next three weeks.
