When you are Jeremy Roenick, you can get away with an awful lot of stuff. You are one of the best American hockey players of all time and you can use that to your advantage. He has leveraged that into getting a gig with NBC and has done an admirable job at being a broadcaster.
When you are missing the physical nature of hockey you need to find other outlets. In this case, Roenick zeros in on an alligator during a round of golf.
