The Florida Panthers are trying to make tickets for their games a hot item. Along with announcing that the ridiculous promotions and incentives for ticket buyers are now a thing of the past, the team has also reduced capacity at Sunrise.

If the demand isn’t there organically, why not create some demand yourself by reducing the number of available seats? Aside from inflating demand, you also prevent people from buying super cheap tickets at the top of the arena and simply walking down to an empty section in the lower bowl. This tactic isn’t exactly new in Florida. The club has previously blocked off sections with tarps, but the curtain concept is a new one.
Of course, this speaks to the much larger issue that the Panthers are closing off a big section of their arena while hopeful markets (Seattle for one) continue to wait for a franchise.
