Braden Holtby was given a hefty raise from the Washington Capitals. He didn’t receive the $8 million a year he was asking for, but the goaltender is taking home a five-year, $30.5 million contract which will carry an average cap hit of $6.1 million.
Fans and analysts were quick to dissect the new deal, but teammate John Carlson had a simple way of breaking down Holtby’s new contract.

Holtby earned $2 million in 2014-15, so the Brinks truck is probably a pretty good analogy now that he’ll be taking home $6.5 million in 2015-16.
