Florida Panthers continue to gut management despite excellent season

The Florida Panthers had their best season in franchise history in 2015-16, finishing atop the Atlantic Division with 103 points. Despite an upset first round loss to the New York Islanders, the Panthers’ successful year signaled a change from the consistently mediocre teams of the past. The organization is loaded with young talent like Aleksander […]

Video: Dmitry Orlov tries to flip Nino Niederreiter

The hip check isn’t used too often in hockey these days, but when it’s deployed it usually results in a devastating collision. Dmitry Orlov tried to pull off an open-ice hip check on Nino Niederreiter, but things didn’t go according to plan. It was still a pretty good hit, but you can tell Orlov was a bit […]

The Blue Jackets trolled Lightning fans on Twitter about Stamkos’ return

Steven Stamkos is closing in on a return to action, but he wasn’t able to suit up for Game 1 between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins. The Columbus Blue Jackets took the possibility that Stamkos might skate in Game 1 as an opportunity to troll Lightning fans on Twitter. The Blue Jackets account replied […]

Video: Ryan Callahan crushes Kris Letang into the boards

At the beginning of each series, every player wants to make an impact. Ryan Callahan knows that feeling, but it just so happens he went a little overboard with this hit on Kris Letang. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbB5mQfUkh4 Everything about his hit on Kris Letang is brutal, from the elbow on the back of his head to the […]

Video: Ben Bishop carried off on stretcher after twisting knee awkwardly

There have been a rash of goalie injuries in this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs, and it hasn’t stopped in the Conference Final. Ben Bishop went down awkwardly after a stray stick hit him in the back of the leg, and after writhing in pain, he had to be carried off on a stretcher.

Ken Hitchcock doesn’t want a multi-year deal because he might “get sloppy”

Ken Hitchcock isn’t looking to cash in. Despite guiding the St. Louis Blues to the Western Conference Finals,  Hitchcock hasn’t necessarily helped. Between questionable coaching decisions, such as not playing Vladimir Tarasenko nearly enough time, to his team routinely getting outplayed, the Blues are lucky to be where they’re at. Hitchcock was likely a goner if […]

Lindy Ruff: “Right now is not the time to assess blame”

The Dallas Stars were stomped 6-1 by the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday, laying an egg in Game 7 of their second-round series. The Stars finished atop the Western Conference with 109 points, but unfortunately, goaltending issues with Kari Lehtonen and Antti Niemi tanked the team’s effort in the playoffs. Head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters […]

Video: Jimmy Fallon mocks NHL stars with his superlatives

It’s that time of the year when Jimmy Fallon mocks NHL skaters competing for the Stanley Cup by handing out superlatives. Some are pretty funny. Others miss the mark. Some seemingly obvious opportunities went untouched (Brent Burns). Half the fun is hearing Fallon try to say various hockey names. See what you think: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLiUJ123bc0 Victor Hedman’s […]

Pivotal offseason lies ahead for the Blackhawks

It’s odd to think that at this time of the year the Chicago Blackhawks are focused on the offseason rather than contending for a Stanley Cup. The Hawks tend to deal with there mortal enemy the salary cap only after they are champions. The Hawks went all in this year. It’s peculiar to see them out so […]

The Toronto Marlies have been the toast of the AHL this season and they are the crown jewel in the Maple Leafs rebuild. Players like William Nylander, Zach Hyman and Kasperi Kapanen have all flourished in this system. As they faced the Albany Devils, they were facing a different brand of hockey. Linden Vey’s father involved in alleged family murder conspiracy

The two reportedly had an affair as it’s alleged Curtis planned on killing […]

Video: Jay Beagle made one of the best non-goalie saves ever

After a comeback of epic proportions, the Capitals and Penguins game needed a signature moment for everyone to remember. Jay Beagle provided that moment for Game 6 and at the time it was an absolute series saver. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_JP3fGppRo The weirdest part of the video has to be Braden Holtby. He looks like he gave up on the […]

Jonathan Drouin is seizing his opportunity

It didn’t seem that it was meant to be. Rewind back to the regular season. Back to the days when Jonathan Drouin was requesting a trade from the Tampa Bay Lightning and taking part in a rare hockey maneuver – holding out. Drouin refused to play for the Lightning and wouldn’t return to NHL action […]
