Photo: Capitals support Paris before game

The Washington Capitals prepared to drop the puck just hours after horrific terrorist attacks shook Paris. In a way of paying respect to those who lost their lives and as a way of showing support, the Capitals transformed the ice into a huge version of the French flag. Great gesture by the organization.

Video: Gabriel Landeskog lays out Brad Marchand, gets game misconduct

Some may call it karma for Brad Marchand, but this is the type of stuff that people want out of the game. Many will point towards the role of the enforcer, but what happens when the pugilist is at the butt end of the play? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BrJudfoZec&feature=youtu.be No matter how you slice it, Landeskog took a […]

Video: Lundqvist makes a ridiculous save… again

We might need to start running a continuous column on Henrik Lundqvist, who seems to make one of these types of saves every night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD-4j3R33ao The lateral movement on the play is impressive, but the extension may be even better. Nobody makes more plays where it seems like there isn’t one available like Henrik Bjorn Lundqvist. […]

Report: Patrick Roy isn’t a fan of Matt Duchene

Patrick Roy has been criticized pretty heavily for his handling of the Colorado Avalanche. A new report suggests that Roy isn’t a fan of Matt Duchene and the team may be shopping the forward for help on defense.

Does history repeat itself? Grading each front office around the NHL

The first ever NHL front office idiot report card. It is everything you could have ever wished for as a fan. Each team has made a series of boneheaded decisions to get to where they are today, it is time for me to put them in there place. The scale goes from A+ which is […]

Here’s a strange Tweet from Peter Budaj

We haven’t talked about Peter Budaj in a while, but the goaltender put out a Tweet we couldn’t help but cover. While Budaj has been competing with the Ontario Reign of the AHL, he’s apparently been talking to other women while his wife was pregnant … or something. Is he being serious or making a joke? […]

When athletes are drafted, it is a momentous day in their lives. It is a culmination of all of their dreams coming to a head in one singular moment. What we seem to often times forget is the people behind that athlete – the person who drove them to practice, the person who supported them […]

Report: Patrick Marleau would waive his no-trade clause for three teams

We wrote earlier this week how San Jose Sharks forward Patrick Marleau gave a pretty big non-answer when asked if he could envision a scenario where he would waive his no-trade clause. He brushed off the rumors, but recent reports suggest he would accept a trade to three certain teams. “The New York Rangers, Anaheim […]

A little back story for those wondering what the hell happened last night: Henrik Lundqvist set a couple of records last night for the Rangers including most saves in a Rangers uniform and most appearances. So, when he was named first star of the game, a lot of the MSG faithful decided to stick around […]

Video: Another example of how the NHL’s goal review system is flawed

The NHL’s video review system needs some serious work. The Detroit Red Wings appeared to have a goal against the Washington Capitals as Braden Holtby reached into his net to fish out a puck, but the review was deemed to be inconclusive and the goal wasn’t allowed. Take a look at the play in question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F44w70278XE […]
