There’s certainly a suspension in Will Carrier’s future as the Sabres forward forced David Backes to leave Thursday’s game after Carrier unleashed a head shot.
We can wonder when these head shots are going to stop, and when the suspensions are going to be tough enough to make players think twice. But does it matter as a successful player like Backes misses more and more time with what is surely a concussion?
Later in the game, Adam McQuaid tried to make Carrier answer for his hit and the referees tried to break up the fight while only really preventing McQuaid from throwing punches (JACK EDWARDS ALERT!!!):
Yes Jack, answer a vicious head shot by using a guy’s head as a bowling ball, whatever that means. The cycle continues.
