Andrew Shaw’s first game back with the Montreal Canadiens was both eventful and short-lived. Shaw returned from a concussion and immediately caused some controversy in the first period, dishing out a blindside hit to Jesper Fast before fighting J.T. Miller.
Shaw was ejected and it’s possible he may receive some additional discipline from the Department of Player Safety.
Shaw’s hit didn’t target the head, but there are still a lot of things wrong with it. For starters, the puck isn’t even in the remote area where the hit occurs. It’s an unnecessary blindside hit and it immediately casts more negative light on a player who is all too familiar with controversy.
