The NHL has hit its midway point and that means the battle for the playoffs is officially on. It’s make or break time for most NHL teams and that usually produces some intense fights. This week is a great collection of scraps, including a couple from some unlikely sources.
5. Josh Anderson (CBJ) vs Alexander Killorn (TB)
The Blue Jackets have been winning just about everything of late, so it’s only appropriate that Anderson won this fight against Killorn. Maybe “won” isn’t the best description as Anderson beat the crap out of Killorn in a big, big way.
4. Cody McLeod (NSH) vs Jarome Iginla (COL)
McLeod was traded from the Avalanche to the Predators and he wasted no time fighting his old team. McLeod’s first game was against his old club and he dropped the mitts with a familiar face – Iginla. We’re going to label this fight a draw, but it easily made out list because of how strange it must have been for these two to scrap.
3. Brandon Manning (PHI) vs Nicolas Deslauriers (BUF)
This is a tight, up close battle. Deslauriers maintains control throughout and works over Manning impressively from start to finish.
2. Marcus Foligno (BUF) vs Victor Hedman (TB)
Hedman only has a handful of fights on his resume, but he’s more than able to hold his own against Foligno. Hedman got caught facing the wrong way and it looked like Foligno was going to pick up a pretty easy win. Things then changed in a hurry as Hedman regrouped and dished out some wicked shots to win the fight.
1. Adam McQuaid (BOS) vs Derek Grant (NSH)
This was Grant’s second NHL fight and it’s pretty likely it’s also one he will never forget. Grant squared up with the experienced McQuaid and things went … poorly. There’s no question who won this fight as McQuaid dominated from start to finish.
