We apologize for the delay in getting out our weekly recap of the week’s best fights. Long story short, being sick sucks and it makes it difficult to get things done. Now, enough of the sob story and on to the best fights!
5. Patrick Maroon (EDM) vs Brandon Dubinsky (CBJ)
Maroon has always had a physical edge to his game, but lately he has been doing a great job on the offensive side of the puck too. While chipping in more goals than anyone had really expected, Maroon demonstrated against Dubinsky that he hasn’t forgotten his roots.
4. Torrey Mitchell (MON) vs Patrick Sharp (DAL)
Sharp isn’t exactly known for his fighting (this was just his fifth fight dating back to the 2007-08 season), but he proved he can handle himself when he drops the mitts. Sharp isn’t the instigator here, but he more than handles Mitchell and in rather impressive fashion.
3. Austin Watson (NSH) vs J.T. Brown (TB)
It looked like Brown had this fight completely under control, but the tide shifted in a hurry over in Watson’s favor. Was it enough to give Watson the win? We’re going to go ahead and say it was since he ended this fight in convincing fashion.
2. Bobby Farnham (MON) vs Frederik Gauthier (TOR)
and
1. Michael McCarron (MON) vs Matt Martin (TOR)
Chaos broke out between the Canadiens and Maple Leafs and it led to two of the best fights of the week. Martin and McCarron fought back in October of 2016, but apparently that wasn’t enough to settle the score. It’s tough to pick which fight was the better of the two, but it is clear that the Leafs came up on the winning side in both bouts.
