By this point, the P.K. Subban trade has been discussed to the point where you don’t even want to hear about it anymore (sorry – we’re going to talk about it one more time). The comparisons between Subban and Weber have been on every television show and have littered every online hockey site.
The players have mostly kept quiet about the trade and only one player thus far has come out to say something about it. Ex-Hab and good friend of Subban, Dale Weise lays out what the trade was just about perfectly. It confirms what most people thought was happening anyway.
Ex-Hab Weise when asked about PK Subban trade: "I think the team was looking to make an excuse. I think he’s an easy scapegoat.” #TSN690 pic.twitter.com/E64RYZhqtf

The comments made by Weise are sweeping and not necessarily based completely on truth. A lot of what he said is about a gut feeling. It is surprising though to see someone inside of that locker room openly talk about how Subban wasn’t a distraction by any means.
Many people want to claim that what Subban does around the public is a facade, but Weise sticks up for him and confirms that he is the same person all of the time.
The most damning remark has to be the part where Weise believes that Subban has been scapegoated. Media members can make comments about that situation all they want. No one is going to have knowledge of the situation unless you are in the locker room and Weise gave everyone the proverbial smoking gun. Subban will continue to be talked about until he retires, that is just the type of player he is, now let’s hope more people learn to love what Subban brings to the game, pure fun.
