Phil Kessel is finally getting the praise he deserves

Phil Kessel is finally getting the praise he deserves. The Kessel narrative has long been an unfair one. Since joining the NHL, Kessel has become one of the best scorers in the league. He’s also survived cancer. But after getting traded from the Boston Bruins to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2009, Kessel had drawn mostly […]

12-year-old does amazing job calling Sharks-Blues Game 2 on radio

It’s been a great couple of weeks for Wyatt Nelson and his dad Gerry. The 12-year-old from Saskatoon and his blind dad got a chance to hang out with the Stanley Cup and were invited to a playoff game following the video going viral. On Tuesday, Wyatt was given the chance of a lifetime, getting to call play-by-play […]

Report: Dany Heatley will play in Finland next season

Don’t expect Dany Heatley back in the NHL next season. According to Jatkoaika, Heatley is in talks to play in Finland with the Lahti Pelicans of the SM-Liiga. It would continue the downward trend of Heatley’s once-promising career.

Was Dale Tallon a good general manager?

The Florida Panthers made a considerable organizational shakeup last week when it was announced general manager Dale Tallon was ‘promoted’ to an executive hockey ops position while Tom Rowe was moved to GM in a series of moves by the club.

Stamkos testing new medication with the hopes of returning sooner

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been playing some great hockey in the playoffs, as they’re currently in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Surprisingly, the team has stayed afloat without leading scorer Steven Stamkos, who’s been shelved with blood clots. Stamkos is hoping to rejoin his Lightning teammates and is testing a new […]

It might be time for the Blue Jackets to trade Sergei Bobrovsky

What should the Columbus Blue Jackets do with Bob? The Blue Jackets long had a goalie carousel of underachievers which ended with Steve Mason imploding. Acquiring Sergei Bobrovsky from the Philadelphia Flyers for three draft picks instantly brought the team much-needed stability between the pipes. Bobrovsky joined the league’s elite netminders when he burst onto the […]

Florida Panthers continue to gut management despite excellent season

The Florida Panthers had their best season in franchise history in 2015-16, finishing atop the Atlantic Division with 103 points. Despite an upset first round loss to the New York Islanders, the Panthers’ successful year signaled a change from the consistently mediocre teams of the past. The organization is loaded with young talent like Aleksander […]

Ken Hitchcock doesn’t want a multi-year deal because he might “get sloppy”

Ken Hitchcock isn’t looking to cash in. Despite guiding the St. Louis Blues to the Western Conference Finals,  Hitchcock hasn’t necessarily helped. Between questionable coaching decisions, such as not playing Vladimir Tarasenko nearly enough time, to his team routinely getting outplayed, the Blues are lucky to be where they’re at. Hitchcock was likely a goner if […]

Lindy Ruff: “Right now is not the time to assess blame”

The Dallas Stars were stomped 6-1 by the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday, laying an egg in Game 7 of their second-round series. The Stars finished atop the Western Conference with 109 points, but unfortunately, goaltending issues with Kari Lehtonen and Antti Niemi tanked the team’s effort in the playoffs. Head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters […]

Linden Vey’s father involved in alleged family murder conspiracy

Here’s a story that reads like it comes straight from a crime novel. Vancouver Canucks forward Linden Vey’s father, Curtis Vey, is set to face trial with co-accused Angela Nicholson for allegedly attempting to murder their spouses, reports Jason Botchford of The Province. The two reportedly had an affair as it’s alleged Curtis planned on killing […]

The Ottawa Senators made the right move when the team announced on Sunday they hired Guy Boucher as head coach. Now, they’ve solidified their coaching group further, announcing on Monday that Marc Crawford has joined the team as an associate coach. Crawford has tons of experience coaching at the pro level. The 55-year-old has coached in […]

A number of European scouts prefer Laine to Matthews

With the NHL draft coming in June, the debate of who should be selected first overall rages on. U.S. center Auston Matthews is the consensus number one pick. The 18-year-old dominated the Swiss league and is on track to become a dynamic, franchise-player sooner than later. On the other hand, scouts are also high on […]

Marc-Andre Fleury is supportive of Matt Murray starting

The Pittsburgh Penguins have been a dominant force throughout the playoffs and one of the key factors for the team has been the great play of rookie goaltender Matt Murray. The 21-year-old has appeared in seven games and has sported an excellent 6-0-1 record, a 1.81 GAA and a .944 save percentage. He’s played way […]
