Most NHL teams have adapted to the 3-on-3 OT format and as a result shootouts are on the rise. The Winnipeg Jets apparently missed the memo on how to play defense when play switches to 3-on-3, as evidenced by their OT loss against Anaheim.

That’s comically bad. All three Jets skaters step up to the puck as if they’re bugs drawn to a light. The synchronization is actually pretty impressive. Meanwhile, Jakob Silfverberg slips in alone and has so much time and space that he can calmly shoot in his own rebound after he’s robbed on the first attempt.
Maybe the Jets are trying a bit too hard to secure a top draft pick.
