Video: KHL official gets punched in the face during skirmish

Referees already have a lot to deal with when they are on the ice. Skating around already takes a lot of effort, but compound that with trying to make the right calls and it is probably the toughest gig in sports.

During a recent KHL game a referee caught a fist for his troubles while trying to break up a fight.

Sibir took on Metallurg in a league affair and after a slash from Evgeny Timkin, both sides got into it. Timkin threw a punch and it landed right on Pyotr Alyoshin chin. Poor Alyoshin took it in stride though, staying on his feet.

Metallurg ended up winning the game 3-0 and surprisingly no penalty was called on the punch. Just a bruised ego for Timkin.
