It’s been a couple weeks since we’ve posted a recap of the best fights from around the NHL, so this edition is a version loaded with some outstanding scraps. Only one of Evander Kane’s three fights from his game against the Panthers made the list, but both he and Alex Petrovic deserve a special shoutout for dropping the mitts three times in a night.
5. Robby Fabbri (STL) vs Vladislav Namestnikov (TB) – Feb. 14th
This was a fight between two unexpected participants. It’s not clear how this one got started, but it ends pretty quickly after a flurry of shots from Namestnikov.
4. Darnell Nurse (EDM) vs Max McCormick (OTT) – Feb. 4th
Reminder: Nurse is a terrifying player. This is an absolute beating and it’s almost brutal to watch. Let this be a message to anyone who wants to physically mess with Nurse or the Oilers.
3. Wayne Simmonds (PHI) vs Dylan McIlrath (NYR) – Feb. 14th
What a great stare down! When the dancing finally stops, both players find the mark with several punches before an angry battle over helmets starts. We won’t assign a winner because both men are caught with ugly blows.
2. Alex Petrovic (FLA) vs Evander Kane (BUF) – Feb. 9th
The third and final fight of the night for Kane and Petrovic was their best. Both players received extra penalties for removing their helmets, but the whole thing was a spectacle well before the lids came off for their third fight.
Kane’s right does all the damage here, catching Petrovic in the chin and the side of the head on multiple occasions.
1. Patrick Maroon (ANA) vs Brandon Manning (PHI) – Feb. 9th
It was tough to pick the best fight from the past two weeks, but this one from Maroon and Manning is great. Maroon cracks Manning with a ton of powerful punches, but our favorite moment is when the two combatants fight into the corner and the camera change makes it look like the two are coming straight through the screen.
Awesome fight.
