Sidney Crosby surprises family after seeing roadside sign

Sidney Crosby is still one of the best players in the world regardless of what people have to say about him. As one of the best, you are constantly in demand and wanted for different events all over the globe. You would never expect him to actually show up at your front door, right?

When Tricia Pottie answered her front door on Friday, she wasn’t expecting to have Crosby at her front door. In fact, she was expecting the cable guy.

When Pottie saw Crosby she panicked (she was in her bathing suit) but realized she had to answer the door.

This was her initial conversation with Crosby courtesy of NHL.com:

“I opened it a little crack and I said, ‘Hi!’ And he said, ‘Hi! I’m here to sign the jersey.”

As you have probably already seen in the image at the top of the page, Pottie put out a sign in hopes of Crosby stopping by. He didn’t stop by on the day he saw the sign, but he ended up stopping by about three weeks later.

The sign, which was built by Daryl Pottie, was done on a whim. He thought that if he were going to stop by at any point after winning a Stanley Cup might be the time. Never in a million years did they believe he would actually pay their house a visit..

From NHL.com:

“When I took it down (the sign) I thought, you know, he’s probably been busy and I certainly didn’t hold anything against him if he didn’t see it,” Darryl said. “I thought, he’s probably just busy and being pulled in a million different directions and he’s got so much going on.”

Crosby stayed for about 20 minutes and signed everything in sight. He even talked talked to Tricia about her mental health program, Stronger Families.

Crosby showed once again that he’s a superstar both on and off the ice.
