Roberto Luongo on Jaromir Jagr: “Looking at him makes me feel young”

Florida Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo is not only one of the NHL’s best goalies, but he’s one of the league’s best personalities. Luongo is a straight up funny dude, evident by his hilarious Twitter account or his filmed sketches on TSN. He likes to have fun, and in an interview with Kristina Rutherford of Sportsnet, teammate Jaromir Jagr was the target of his latest jokes.

Luongo chirped his 44-year-old teammate when asked if Jagr was the 36-year-old netminder’s trick to aging well.

“Yeah, just looking at him makes me feel young. That’s a big advantage.”

Luongo is apparently a big fan of chirping Jagr, as his name and age came up again when asked who was his favorite target to rip on.

“I like to make fun of Brian Campbell’s shot. It’s not very hard. Or Jagr’s age. Those are my two favourites to go to, pretty much on a daily basis. I sit beside Jagr in the locker room, so it’s easy for me to just turn my head and give him a little chirp.”

Despite Luongo and Jagr being over 80 years old combined, the two veterans are huge factors in why the Florida Panthers have become such a threat in the East. It’s good to see the duo are still having fun. Luongo would likely be the oldest player on most teams, but with the Panthers he’s got Jagr to look up to – and poke fun at.

It sounds like being in the Panthers locker room would be a total blast.
