Confirmed: Phil Kessel is a good dude.
The Pittsburgh Penguins star had his day with the Stanley Cup on Monday and decided to bring hockey’s most prestigious trophy to a children’s hospital.
Kessel showed up to the SickKids hospital in Toronto to give some youngsters the chance to meet him and take pictures with the Stanley Cup. SickKids shared a couple photos on Facebook of the encounter and the kids (and Kessel) look happy to be there. Props to Kessel for giving the kids a chance to see him and the Cup and for doing it while still recovering from hand surgery just a week ago.

Kessel also did other things like take the Cup to the street sharing his name and will likely be having a party to celebrate the victory.
Don’t believe old narratives. Kessel is a great guy and his actions just further prove that. Going to Pittsburgh and leaving the Leafs was a blessing for him and has really allowed him to flourish. He was a massive part in the Penguins bringing home the cup. To take time out of his day with the Cup to visit sick kids and let them have a moment with the trophy is a pretty great gesture.
