John Scott wants to bring the snubs to the World Cup.
The former Montreal Canadiens forward and All-Star Game MVP took to Instagram to throw out a proposal about a new team at the tournament. Scott posted a picture of Phil Kessel, one of the biggest snubs in the tourney, and his infamous stick swing incident at Scott. He wrote that all the snubs and overlooked players that were shockingly left off of teams should form a superteam with him.
Considering they’re having a team North America, I can get behind a team of snubs. This year’s group would be pretty stacked. Kessel, Taylor Hall, John Klingberg, Kris Letang, PK Subban, Kevin Shattenkirk and Ilya Kovalchuk all were left off World Cup rosters. Add Scott to the mix and you’ve got one heck of a team.
Seriously though, a snubs team would be a lot of fun. Scott, who’s likely done playing hockey, probably wouldn’t be on the squad but he’d make an excellent coach as he seems to have the ability to inspire players and fans alike. A budding friendship with Kessel would be icing on the cake.
World Cup, please follow Scott’s suggesting. It would be incredibly fun to see players stick it to their home countries on a team snub.
