Jagr hopes to play until he’s at least 60

Jaromir Jagr is outperforming players half his age in the NHL and continues to be a force on offense at the age of 44. While he continues to rack up points and hit the gym at 1:30am, fans can’t help but wonder how much longer he can keep it up. If it’s up to Jagr, he’ll play until he’s 60.

The 44-year-old Florida Panthers legend now says he hopes to continue playing hockey until he’s 60.

“It may be after that, but I don’t know,” Jagr said Wednesday. “I’m not sure yet.”

It’s easy to dismiss the idea of Jagr playing at the age of 60, but many also dismissed Jagr being this good in his 40s. He’s more than holding his own and is even leading the Panthers in total points with the season winding down. Playing at 60 seems pretty far-fetched, but Jagr skating in his late 40s or even at 50 seems pretty plausible.

Jagr will be a free agent after this season and there’s no telling where he’ll end up. Toronto is a fun possible destination, but he brushed that idea aside … for the most part.

“In Toronto? No. That’s another question I can’t answer. I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going to happen – maybe a car’s going to hit me tomorrow and I’m going to be dead. You’re asking me questions; like I don’t have the (crystal) ball to see through this.

Not yet, I’m looking for it – maybe (it’s) in Toronto.”

You’ve gotta love Jagr.
