Hockey Tweets of the Week – Week 24

It’s time once again to get social, boys and girls. Welcome to the 24th edition of the hockey tweets of the week. March means that two things are in full swing: Hockey’s playoff drive, and spring training. (I hear there’s also a basketball tournament going on.) But with the marriage of baseball and hockey on the television front, it’s a good week to see some fun ways that the two sports are linked on social media.

Phil Hughes Loves His Lightning

Phil Hughes is a pitcher for the Minnesota Twins, and a very active Tampa Bay Lightning fan on twitter (when he’s not hosting taco night while watching The Bachelor). He recently tweeted this gem:

Hughes is pretty passionate about his Lightning.

So this past week after a loss to the Flyers, Hughes felt the wrath of Flyers fans when he let loose this tweet:

While he was actually complimenting the Flyers, he nevertheless started a war with his assumption that the Flyers were too far out of the playoff picture to be dangerous. (They moved into a playoff position this week.)

Ouch!

Hughes had no problem fighting back …

even at his own:

But all turned out to be well, and Hughes’ “The Bachelor” party went off without a hitch. Then it was time to get back to important issues:

He’s just like you and me.

Speaking Of Baseball …

Turns out the Los Angeles Dodgers like to indulge in some puck luck to unwind from the rigors of spring training:

I don’t care if he’s a baseball player, I wouldn’t want to have to face a wrister from Clayton Kershaw.

The Roberto Luongo Tweet Of The Week

Now pay attention, because Luongo gets a little deep here:

Very interesting question. Let’s start by saying …

NO! A HOT DOG IS A HOT DOG!!! A HOT DOG CAN’T BE A SANDWICH BECAUSE IT IS A HOT DOG!!!

Sorry.

Only 2% Of You Will Get This Right

Umm, Doppler radar?

An aerial view of a broccoli farm in Iowa?

Anything other than what I think it is? Please???

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat’s what I was afraid that would be.

And here’s Brent Burns celebrating St. Patrick’s Day:

He also steals boxes of Lucky Charms from children.

Did he steal that hat from a pimp?

That’s a jacket made for radio.

Sorry, Ron MacLean. No pot of gold for you.

And Finally …

That’s dedication.
