When Matthew Wuest, founder of the incredible salary manager site CapGeek, passed away, there was a glaring hole in obtaining NHL salary cap information in an accessible manner. One site that emerged as a worthy replacement was General Fanager. The website provided instant information on contracts, cap information and hockey news and stood out among the new resources trying to emulate CapGeek.

It’s a great acquisition for the Nations Network. We here at Puck Drunk Love have used and sourced General Fanager on multiple occasions. It’s an easy to use resource, which makes difficult details in contracts easier to understand. It’s also great for on-the-fly research.
Site creator Tom Poraszka stated in the press release that joining the Nations Network is a great opportunity to continue building General Fanager.
The end goal wasn’t important, I’ve just enjoyed having a part in providing information that fans like me love having. The goal has always been to continue to build on that. Give those fans information and tools that they love to use, and maybe that they had no idea they could ever have access to.
That is a goal that the Nation Network clearly shares, and it’s what continues to excite me about the possibilities with this. It’s not about anything but the possibility to build something uniquely great for hockey fans, and it’s something I can’t wait to be a part of.
Let’s hope the acquisition doesn’t change the site too much and General Fanager builds on its already sterling reputation.
