Canucks GM has spent hours playing with a draft lottery simulator

Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning is pretty excited for the NHL Draft Lottery on April 30th which will determine where the worst teams in the league will pick at the 2016 NHL Draft. Benning has been doing what countless fans have been doing – playing with draft lottery simulators – to see where the Canucks will pick this summer.

In fact, Benning has been spending hours running simulations.

It’s kind of fun to learn that an NHL GM is out there running the same simulations hockey fans screw around with. The Canucks finished 28th this season which means they have a respectable 11.5% chance to pick first at the 2016 Draft. Considering how crazy the lottery can be (who are we kidding, the Oilers will take it), Benning should be hopeful.

Meanwhile, Buffalo Sabres GM Tim Murray has no intentions of attending the lottery. Murray and the Sabres only have a 6% shot of winning the top pick, but maybe he’d be more hopeful if he spent some time with a lottery simulator.
