EA is once again holding a cover vote for their latest NHL installment. The candidates for the cover of NHL 17 were Joe Pavelski, Anze Kopitar, Aleksander Barkov, Jamie Benn, Connor McDavid, Jakub Voracek, Vladimir Tarasenko and Victor Hedman. After one round of voting the list of candidates has been shortened to Pavelski, Benn, McDavid and Tarasenko, but that hasn’t stopped Adam Henrique from trying to jump into the discussion.
Since @EASportsNHL left me off the cover-vote ballot this year… I am running as an independent! #NHL17Henrique pic.twitter.com/iIbxP6aHE5

That’s a pretty decent Photoshop from a Trump rally and a pretty amusing idea from Henrique. He’s a strong player and could have been in contention, but it’s clear that EA is opting to go in a new direction by featuring teams and players the NHL has historically ignored. All four of the final candidates for the cover skate in the Western Conference which is a testament to the immense talent in the Conference.
Henrique’s effort is just for fun, but that hasn’t stopped a ton of fans from jumping on the wagon.
