ST PAUL, MN – APRIL 20: (EDITORS: Image contains obscene gesture) Linesman Tim Nowak #77 leads Steve Ott #9 of the St. Louis Blues off the ice after a game misconduct against Jared Spurgeon #46 of the Minnesota Wild during the third period in Game Three of the Western Conference Quarterfinals during the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs on April 20, 2015 at Xcel Energy Center in St Paul, Minnesota. Video: Steve Ott’s latest dirty play apparently included scratching at Jared Spurgeon’s face.

Steve Ott might be one of the most disliked players in the NHL. Even fans of the St. Louis Blues have a difficult time dealing with his constant chirping and dirty plays away from the puck.

Ott’s latest incident occurred at the end of Game 3 between the Blues and the Wild. The Blues trailed 3-0 in the final few seconds and Ott decided that was the appropriate time to jump two Minnesota skaters completely away from the play.

The hit above came while the puck was at the opposite end of the ice. However, the play didn’t end there…

The videos above are bad enough, but apparently Ott was also clawing at Jared Spurgeon’s face. We don’t have any video of the incident described below, but it’s completely believable since we’re all talking about Ott.

That’s pretty messed up. It’s understandable that the Blues were frustrated after a dominant loss at the hands of the Wild, but that’s a completely different level of unnecessary. Ott is ridiculed by Blues fans for his bad penalties and worse decisions, but that’s not even taking into account his boneheaded play in the first few games against the Wild.
