The 5 best hockey fights from Week 3

Welcome to Week 3 of Hockey Fights of the Week! We’re once again profiling the top-5 scraps from the most recent week of the 2015-16 season.

What’s in store this week? It’s doubtful any of these scraps will be in the running for Fight of the Year, but below you’ll see some tight battles and one particularly lopsided fight which Antoine Roussel might want to forget.

5. Kyle Clifford (LA) vs Luke Gazdic (EDM) – Oct. 25th

We’re going to give Gazdic the win here, but it was nearly a tie in our books. After Clifford’s helmet slides down on his head, Gazdic find the mark with a couple of brutal punches.

4. Steve Ott (STL) vs Nathan Beaulieu (MON) – Oct. 20th

A couple of things we love about this fight:

– The official wiping out while watching this tussle.
– Beaulieu throwing a ton of punches and repeatedly hitting Ott in the back of the shoulder.
– The giant P.K. Subban face in the crowd taking it all in.

3. Adam McQuaid (BOS) vs Matt Martin (NYI) – Oct. 23rd

It’s pretty rare to see two guys throw down during a goal celebration. The Isles were pretty happy to take the lead, but Martin and McQuaid were off settling their differences. You’d expect more from a Martin-McQuaid scrap, but the two players looked overly tired and the fight suffered as a result.

2. Jordin Tootoo (NJ) vs Chris Neil (OTT) – Oct. 22nd

It’s kind of strange how this fight developed, but once the mitts went flying, Neil has no trouble dispatching Tootoo. Had Neil’s sweater stayed down, he probably would have continued dishing out punishment to Tootoo.

1. Erik Gudbranson (FLA) vs Antoine Roussel (DAL) – Oct. 24th

Roussel has been in his fair share of fights during his career, but this is one he won’t want to remember. Then again, after taking so many punches to the head, maybe he won’t have trouble forgetting.

Bonus points on this one as it looks like Gudbranson is yelling in Roussel’s ear as he continues to pummel away.
