The 5 best hockey fights from Week 2

Welcome to Week 2 of Hockey Fights of the Week! We’re once again profiling the top-5 scraps from the most recent week of the 2015-16 season.

This week we’re given an interesting mix of fights. A few are pretty good and our top selection will probably be in the discussion for the year’s most brutal battles.

5. Cody McLeod (COL) vs Andy Andreoff (LA) – Oct. 18th

McLeod starts off strong in this fight, but things went south in a hurry. With one punch, McLeod is left mostly defenseless in his jersey and Andreoff makes him pay.

4. Kyle Palmieri (NJ) vs Kevin Klein (NYR) – Oct. 18th

We’ve got to give this one to Klein. Klein throws punches with both his left and his right and appears to land a bunch of them. Also, who doesn’t love a fight where it starts with equipment going flying?

3. Luke Gazdic (EDM) vs Deryk Engelland (CGY) – Oct. 17th

Gazdic and Engelland tangled back in January of 2015 and they renewed their rivalry with this fight. This isn’t a great fight by any means, but Engelland won’t be happy with the extra shots Gazdic tossed after he was down on the ice.

2. Jared Boll (CBJ) vs Nicolas Deslauriers (BUF) – Oct. 12th

It looks like the vast majority of punches in this fight missed, but Boll lands a few shots which effectively won this battle. Deslauriers struggled to keep his positioning and Boll capitalized. Deslauriers is pretty lucky some of Boll’s efforts missed.

1. Kevan Miller (BOS) vs Joe Vitale (ARI) – Oct. 17th

Holy cow. Vitale isn’t a bad fighter, but he’s on the losing end of some brutal punches from Miller. Vitale was later taken to the hospital for X-Rays with what’s described as an upper-body injury. As far as fights go, few will be as violent.
