Lou Lamoriello will likely remain GM of the Devils

The New Jersey Devils appear to be well on their way to missing the playoffs this season. Barring some sort of late miracle push, the Devils will miss the playoffs for the third consecutive seasons and for the fourth time in five seasons. Normally a stretch of poor play results in changes in the front office, but the Devils appear to be content with GM Lou Lamoriello running the ship.

Via NJ.com, reports indicate that the Devils’ owners are content with Lou as the team’s GM even though the team is going through a rough patch. The overall thought has been that Lou has created championship teams and the owners don’t want to make a drastic change even after a few disappointing years.

Other GMs chimed in that they do not believe the Devils will make a GM change either.

What do the fans think? Devils fans appreciate the winning teams Lou has built, but there’s been some growing frustration over how the team has handled things the past few seasons. Lou recently came out and said the Devils are in a “transitioning” phase as opposed to a complete rebuild. That attitude has frustrated fans who are eager to see the Devils return to their winning ways and believe big changes are necessary.
