Kings prospect charged with domestic violence

Los Angeles Kings prospect Patrik Bartosak has been charged with second-degree assault charges after allegedly trying to strangle his girlfriend.

As The New Hampshire Union Leader reports, the incident took place on Monday. Here’s what they allege happened.

Seven domestic simple assault charges allege he grabbed her by the shoulders and pushed her against a wall, put his hand around her neck and choked her, grabbed her right chest and pulled her up off a bed, punched her in the chest twice, slapped her in the face and slapped her three times on both legs.

Three criminal threatening charges allege he told her: “If you don’t have anything to say I’m going to kill you,” “I’m going to punch you in the face if you don’t say anything,” and “I hope you know I’m going to knock you out and put you to sleep before I leave.”

The Czech goalie is now free on a surety bond and is not allowed to visit the victim or address where the alleged assault took place. According to the report, Bartosak didn’t enter a plea and a trial for assault, threatening and stalking misdemeanours is set for Jan. 16th.

Bartosak is currently playing in the ECHL with the Manchester Monarchs on a conditioning stint. He played in the AHL the last two seasons.

The news comes almost one year after Los Angeles Kings defenseman Slava Voynov was charged with domestic violence. The Kings have acknowledged their poor handling of issues in the past and have hired former NHLer Brantt Myhres in an attempt to help with off-ice issues.
