Josh Ho-Sang’s training camp stay with the New York Islanders ended before it ever began. The 19-year-old was dismissed by the Isles after oversleeping and missing the shuttle to the team’s first day of camp. Isles GM Garth Snow had some critical and direct words for the youngster following the incident.
Snow’s comments, via Newsday:
“Enough with the bull. It’s time to grow up. He’s obviously very talented, but talent isn’t the issue. It’s about becoming a professional and acting like one. Hopefully he takes this lesson and learns from it. It’s really up to him now — we can’t do anything else for him in this area.”
Ho-Sang was reportedly woken up by hotel staff at the same time the Islanders were taking the ice for the first day of camp. Newsday reports that the team made Ho-Sang run the stairs inside Nassau Coliseum for three hours before Snow talked to him directly.
It goes without saying that the beginning of Ho-Sang’s NHL career has gotten off to a poor start. Isles fans can only hope that Snow’s direct comments – and the fact he made some of them publicly known – will straighten Ho-Sang out before things have an opportunity to go further off course. The Isles addressed this incident harshly and that should go a long way in getting Ho-Sang’s head back into the game.
