Hockey Tweets of the Week – Week 2

Welcome to our weekly “Hockey Tweets of the Week” feature on Puck Drunk Love. We will aim to give you the most entertaining tweets each week from hockey players, writers and fans.

We’re in to the second week of the season, and already the alarm is sounding for two of the elite NHL franchises, and one team expected to join the cream of the crop this season. The Kings won the Stanley Cup in 2014, the Penguins added Phil Kessel to their stacked lineup up front and the Columbus Blue Jackets had expectations heaped on them after the acquisition of Brandon Saad. The Kings and Penguins started 0-3 before the Penguins beat Ottawa on Thursday night, and the Blue Jackets started 0-4.

Let’s check in with the fan bases who, I’m sure, are keeping things in perspective and realize that it is only October 16th.

Or they could be burning down Staples Center and forcing the Lakers to play their games in El Segundo.

When in doubt, blame Drake. That’s my general life plan.

Blaming Taylor Swift works too. That curse must be real.

Is that the one where the Cubs win the World Series? If so, I’m taking my things and hiding in the bomb shelter right now.

I’ll pack extra clothes.

Maybe putting Jean-Claude Van Damme between the pipes would help too.

We all have things to look forward to.

LeBron James might help.

Well the Bruins have a win now so … I guess all bets are off on that.

I don’t think there was a Back To The Future sequel where the Blue Jackets won the Stanley Cup.

Alex Ovechkin

You might have heard that Alex Ovechkin was a healthy scratch recently because Ovechkin overslept and missed the morning skate before their game against the Sharks.

Hey good news: You don’t have to wait until April …

… well, at least for the ironic hot take.

Extra points for the Seinfeld reference.

Maybe they all need alarm clocks.

And I love this:

The Roberto Luongo Tweet Of The Week

Roberto Luongo, like most good Canadian hockey players, are throwing their support behind the Blue Jays this baseball playoff season. And why not? The Jays are in their first playoffs since 1993.

So when the Jays came back from 0-2 down to defeat the Texas Rangers (after a wild 7th inning in Game 5), the hockey community was surely giddy … especially the Toronto Maple Leafs, who I’m sure are happy that the Jays are deflecting a bit of attention from their own slow start.

And while you’re up there, can you see if you can find Tyler Bozak’s game?
