Welcome to our weekly “Hockey Tweets of the Week” feature on Puck Drunk Love. We will aim to give you the most entertaining tweets each week from hockey players, writers and fans.
We’re in to the second week of the season, and already the alarm is sounding for two of the elite NHL franchises, and one team expected to join the cream of the crop this season. The Kings won the Stanley Cup in 2014, the Penguins added Phil Kessel to their stacked lineup up front and the Columbus Blue Jackets had expectations heaped on them after the acquisition of Brandon Saad. The Kings and Penguins started 0-3 before the Penguins beat Ottawa on Thursday night, and the Blue Jackets started 0-4.
Let’s check in with the fan bases who, I’m sure, are keeping things in perspective and realize that it is only October 16th.
Los Angeles Kings

Or they could be burning down Staples Center and forcing the Lakers to play their games in El Segundo.

When in doubt, blame Drake. That’s my general life plan.

Blaming Taylor Swift works too. That curse must be real.
Are we living in the darkest timeline? This is like the Biff future from Back to the Future II. @LAKings pic.twitter.com/eY8h0L3s35

Is that the one where the Cubs win the World Series? If so, I’m taking my things and hiding in the bomb shelter right now.
Here is your daily reminder that the LA Kings have started out 0-3-0 and the Arizona Coyotes are 3-0-0

I’ll pack extra clothes.
Pittsburgh Penguins

@penguins Keep playing like they are the rink will be back to EMPTY. No one wants to watch this crap.
— GodsAngel59 (@godsangel1959) October 14, 2015
I hope people stop going to @penguins games so they're forced to do something about this atrocity of a system/crowd/scandal

Maybe putting Jean-Claude Van Damme between the pipes would help too.
Columbus Blue Jackets
The blue jackets make me want to throw my tv out of the window
— Ryan Smith (@Smithers1220) October 15, 2015
Id almost rather do homework than watch the Blue Jackets right now. Its that bad.

LeBron James might help.

Well the Bruins have a win now so … I guess all bets are off on that.
If the Cubs can go to the World Series, then the Blue Jackets can go to the Stanley Cup.
— Andy Donnelly (@andygravity61) October 14, 2015
I don’t think there was a Back To The Future sequel where the Blue Jackets won the Stanley Cup.
Alex Ovechkin
You might have heard that Alex Ovechkin was a healthy scratch recently because Ovechkin overslept and missed the morning skate before their game against the Sharks.

Can't wait until April when a writer uses "Ovechkin accidentally messed up his alarm clock that time," as evidence of being a bad leader.
— Adam Herman (@AdamZHerman) October 14, 2015
Hey good news: You don’t have to wait until April …
@NHLFlyera Corsby no points, Ovechkin oversleeps, Giroux still no even strength gaols at home. No real leaders in this league anymore
— Alexis de Wokeville (@dbfj1218) October 14, 2015
… well, at least for the ironic hot take.
Ovechkin gets the AM/PM mixed up on alarm clock, misses morning skate and game yesterday. John Paul knows that pic.twitter.com/MWEKg7CC2U
— Sabrina_Lizzy (@SabrinaLizzy70) October 14, 2015
Extra points for the Seinfeld reference.
Ovechkin missed 1 morning skate and gets benched?
Kind of harsh considering the entire Penguins roster missed the first 3 games.
— ego (@notmalkinego) October 14, 2015
Maybe they all need alarm clocks.
And I love this:

The Roberto Luongo Tweet Of The Week
The protest has been granted by MLB. We shall resume tied at 2 in the 7th inning tomorrow. Should be fun!
— Strombone (@strombone1) October 14, 2015
Roberto Luongo, like most good Canadian hockey players, are throwing their support behind the Blue Jays this baseball playoff season. And why not? The Jays are in their first playoffs since 1993.

Alright men lets do this !!! pic.twitter.com/uKH1F6XDHy
— Jordin Tootoo (@Jtootoo22) October 14, 2015
So when the Jays came back from 0-2 down to defeat the Texas Rangers (after a wild 7th inning in Game 5), the hockey community was surely giddy … especially the Toronto Maple Leafs, who I’m sure are happy that the Jays are deflecting a bit of attention from their own slow start.
Congrats @BlueJays on winning the ALDS!@JoeyBats19 if you could get your bat that landed on the Air Canada Centre roof, that'd be great.
— Toronto Maple Leafs (@MapleLeafs) October 14, 2015
And while you’re up there, can you see if you can find Tyler Bozak’s game?
