This week’s edition of Hockey Fights of the Week has a little bit of everything. A couple fights are one-sided beatings, a couple are balanced scraps and one might qualify as one of the year’s best.
5. Mark Borowiecki (OTT) vs Patrick Kaleta (BUF) – Feb. 10th
Make sure you watch the video above all the way through to completion. At first glance, this fight doesn’t seem like anything special, but the other angles reveal it was a nasty battle. Kaleta is the winner by a narrow margin.
4. Curtis McKenzie (DAL) vs Cody McLeod (COL) – Feb. 14th
McLeod fought twice in this game against the Stars, but the best was clearly the one you see above. McLeod dispatched McKenzie with ease. McKenzie looked a bit timid jumping into this scrap and that’s not a winning approach against a fighter such as McLeod.
3. Kyle Clifford (LA) vs Jared Boll (CBJ) – Feb. 9th
This fight starts off with Clifford holding a slight advantage as the two men threw some seriously wild punches. Boll is reduced to those relatively weak jersey punches until he’s able to get Clifford pressed against the boards. From there it’s all Boll in a big way.
2. Troy Brouwer (WAS) vs Brenden Dillon (SJ) – Feb. 11th
This fight was fairly level though Dillon appeared to be orchestrating the proceedings. All it took was one big punch from Brouwer to wrap things up. What a punch.
1. Luke Gazdic (EDM) vs Chris Neil (OTT) – Feb. 14th
This was an outstanding fight and you can count on seeing it again when we break down the year’s best. Both men deserve a “W” for this one as the two landed some serious punches and paid the price.
