It’s the final countdown! As the 2014-15 regular season draws to a close, so too does our Hockey Fights of the Week column. We’ll rank all of the fights through the final game on April 11th before posting our recap of the year’s best, but then that will conclude this popular column until Fall.
In other words, now is the time to get your hockey fight fix!
5. Antoine Roussel (DAL) vs Derek Dorsett (VAN) – Mar. 28th
It should be no surprise to see these two players on this list. Roussel insists on dropping the mitts with Dorsett following a collision in the crease, but it’s Dorsett who has the advantage in this fight.
4. Shane Doan (ARI) vs Steve Downie (PIT) – Mar. 28th
Here’s another instance where it looks like the officials step in a bit too early. This close quarters fight doesn’t really allow either fighter to throw an extended punch, but that doesn’t prevent Downie from narrowly winning.
3. Cody McLeod (COL) vs Derek Dorsett (VAN) – Mar. 26th
Dorsett makes his second appearance on this list and it comes against a familiar opponent. McLeod and Dorsett tangle for the fourth time since 2011 and it’s another solid scrap. It’s safe to assume this won’t be the last time we see these two drop the gloves.
2. Steve Ott (STL) vs Craig Adams (PIT) – Mar. 24th
The Penguins were in control of the Blues and up 2-0, but things changed in a hurry after Ott and Adams fought. The fight was an even one, but the Blues surged forward and credited the fight as the turning point in an eventual victory.
1. Clayton Stoner (ANA) vs Jared Boll (CBJ) – Mar. 24th
There’s really no debating who won this fight. Boll is patient and waits for the perfect moment to throw an uppercut at Stoner and it crumples the Ducks forward.
