The past week featured some outstanding hockey fights. As teams push to close out the season on a high note (either in hopes of a playoff spot or in hopes of winning the Connor McDavid lottery), emotions are running high.
Do any of these fights belong in our list of the year’s best? Let us know.
5. Corey Tropp (CBJ) vs Derek Dorsett (VAN) – Mar. 19th
There’s some wild jersey grabbing in this one. This fight is pretty even, but Dorsett appears to land a few more shots. More importantly, this was a great fight and it’s #5 on our list. We told you it was a good week!
4. Petteri Lindbohm (STL) vs Drew Miller (DET) – Mar. 22nd
Miller wins this fight pretty easily, but the real story here is all about a logo. Watch around the 24-second mark as one of Miller’s punches knocks the Blues logo off of Lindbohm’s helmet. Just when you think you saw it all…
3. Ryan Reaves (STL) vs Brandon Bollig (CHI) – Mar. 17th
Reaves and Bollig are two very scary men and it’s almost always exciting when they drop the gloves. The two also have quite the history. Dating back to their time in the AHL, Reaves and Bollig have now fought five times. The scrap above was won by Bollig, but it’s a guarantee they’ll meet again.
2. Zach Sill (TOR) vs Mark Borowiecki (OTT) – Mar. 21st
Great fight. You could give the win to either player. This was Sill’s second fight of the game and he put forth an awesome effort, Borowiecki is just a bit better.
1. Jakub Voracek (PHI) vs Dan Hamhuis (VAN) – Mar. 17th
It was difficult choosing the top fight from this week’s batch. We settled on the Voracek-Hamhuis scrap, but we could’ve been persuaded in a different direction. Voracek’s helmet was punched off by Hamhuis (we love a good helmet punch), but Voracek takes it home thanks to a consistent barrage of punches.
