The 2016 NHL All-Star voting has barely started and fans are already hilariously trolling the ballot.
Arizona Coyotes scrapper John Scott is currently among the leaders in voting, as fans on Twitter and Reddit have really gone all out to try to get the 6-foot-8 winger into the 3-on-3 game.

Let’s break down Scott’s All-Star resume: He has zero goals and one assist while only appearing in six games this season. Yep, that’s an All-Star.
Scott isn’t the only player of his caliber getting votes, as Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Rob Scuderi, Columbus Blue Jackets forward David Clarkson and Boston Bruins enforcer Zac Rinaldo have all received a significant amount of votes.
This isn’t the first time an NHL vote has been trolled. In 2007, Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rory Fitzpatrick was almost named an All-Star after he famously received more votes than Chris Pronger and Dion Phaneuf following an online campaign to get him in the game. Fitzpatrick definitely wasn’t an All-Star on paper, but fans wanted to see him play, and it was hilarious and a lot of fun. The campaigns were rampant.
If you’re going to open the vote to the fans, you can’t expect a by-the-numbers vote. Scott is no doubt a terrible hockey player, but he’s an enigma. How funny would it be to see him play 3-on-3 hockey with some of the most skilled players in the world? It would be like watching a fish out of water.
GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT.
Heck, I’d pay to see a team of John Scotts take on a team of skilled NHLers. We’re talking pure entertainment value, and that’s what electing crappy players into the game does.
