The Connor McDavid hype seems to grow by the way. As the NHL regular season winds down, fans from several teams are actively rooting for their organizations to fail and fall as far down the standings as possible with the hopes of securing better odds for the top overall pick in the upcoming draft. Is McDavid really that special? Take a look at his OHL numbers from this season and decide for yourself.
McDavid’s regular season in the OHL is in the books and he finished with some jaw-dropping numbers.
Connor McDavid's final OHL regular season ends with 120 points in 47 games (2.55 PPG).

McDavid scored 44 goals and added 76 assists in just 47 games with the Eerie Otters. He finished third in the OHL in scoring, narrowly trailing Dylan Strome (129 points in 68 games) and Mitchell Marner (126 points in 63 games) despite suiting up in far fewer contests.
The NHL is obviously a much different beast than the OHL, but McDavid has clearly shown enough to warrant the top overall pick and immediate playing time in the sport’s top league. Where will he end up? That depends on how the standings shape up and on the luck of the draw. The last place NHL team will have a 20% chance to land the top pick. From there, the other bottom four teams will have odds of 13.5%, 11.5%, 9.5% and 8.5%. As we’ve seen in the past, there are no certainties when it comes to the lottery. With just a valuable prize in McDavid waiting in the wings, this year’s lottery will be a must-see event.
